Finally, it has been set. ESPN reported what all Filipino boxing fans have been waiting for.

The Manny Pacquiao - Floyd Mayweather fight is set on May 3, 2015 (Manila Time) as confirmed via Mayweather's post in the social media app, Shots.

In this post, Mayweather shared a photo containing signatures with the caption that both fighters have signed the fight contract.

I wish that Manny Pacquiao will train as hard as ever.

I wish that he take a leave of absence from Congress and the PBA.

I wish that he will do everything to make this fight exciting and end up with a win.

Mayweather Vs Alvarez - Finally, a real fight for Mayweather.

The Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Saul "Canelo" Alvarez fight is now a done deal!

After reading that Mayweather will be fighting Alvarez on September 14 here, I couldn't agree more that for the first time, Mayweather picked an opponent that the fans wanted him to fight and one that is very much capable of dealing him his first loss as a professional boxer.

Actually, if you've seen sportsnation's survey, Pacquiao-vs-Mayweather is still wanted. Mayweather-vs-Alvarez though comes in second. With Pacquiao's drawing power fading due to his devastating loss to Juan Manual Marquez, it is easy to understand Mayweather's choice. It is really about what fight will give him the most profit.

Alvarez has nothing to lose and everything to gain in this fight. Even if he loses, he is still young. Perhaps if Alvarez loses and Pacman comes away victorious in the Pacquiao-vs-Rios fight, maybe Alvarez-Pacquiao could be a possibility.

For Mayweather, a convincing win will further cement his legacy.

Mayweather-Pacquiao Fight Still Wanted

As much as I have given up on a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, there are still people who wish to see that fight happen.

If you take ESPN's sportsnation survey as to who should Mayweather face in his next fight, it is clear that a lot of people want Pacman to challenge Money.

Obviously, Mayweather camp would pick the one who could help them make more money and can be expected to favoring a Mayweather-Canelo fight.

I hope that Pacquiao too have seen and understood that many people still like to see him and mayweather fight. I hope that would mean more motivation for him to come out spectacularly on top of the coming Pacquiao - Rios bout.

Pacquiao vs. Rios - a Comeback or Retirement for Pacquiao?

Finally, Manny Pacquiao has chosen to fight vs Brandon Rios this coming November 24, 2013. We know our man, Manny Pacquiao but who is he up against? Who is Brandon Rios

When I first read about the Pacquio-vs-Rios fight being set, I immediately searched youtube for Rios.

And I liked that this young fighter loves to brawl and boasts of a 31-1 professional ring record with 23 knockouts.

This is good news to us Pacquiao fans. Rios style, if he will bring the same on the ring come fight night, appear tailof-fit to Pacman's style.

And although Rios is younger, I believe that Pacquiao still has the speed to evade Rios' attacks and the power to knock him out. No less than knock-out can bring back Pacquiao in the conversations with the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Juan Miguel Marquez.

But to do that, Pacquiao need to focus on boxing. I'm sorry Pacman. But I wish you'd lose this coming election so (Darn! Pacquiao is unopposed) that you can focus back on boxing. With Filipino champions losing championships left and right in the world stage, we need Pacman to bring back Philippine boxing in the map.

My Sports Calendar is already Marked - The Masters 2013, Donaire vs. Rigondeaux on April 14, 2013

I have marked my sporting calendar for April 14, 2013 because it is the Masters and Donaire vs. Rigondeaux fight.

I am looking forward to the said date because it will be the final round of the 2013 Masters Golf Tournament and the Manila time coverage of the WBO/WBA junior featherweight title unification bout between our own Nonito Donaire Jr. vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux.

I am excited about seeing the final round of The Masters 2013 live free online courtesy of CBSSports.com and Masters.com as reported by Mashable here. It would be a blast as a golf fan to watch the drama that often unfolds during the final day of The Masters, culminating with the wearing of the green jacket by the champion. Tiger Woods chances of getting his 5th green jacket and closing in on Jack Nicklaus reverred major championships record of 14 grand slams will add to the things to look forward to in this year's edition of the tournament at Augusta.

As for the Donaire vs. Rigondeaux boxing match, I think that Rigondeaux's record is as imposing as pronouncing his name. Although Nonito's momentum and drive to follow on Pacquiao's greatness will eventually, I pray, lead to a victory and a celebration on our country. A knock-out will surely elevate Donaire among the all time greats.

Mayweather Tweets Out Pacquiao For May 5 Fight

A challenge to fight in this digital age can not be more straight-to-the-point than that of Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s recent tweet. Mayweather calls out Manny Pacquiao to fight him on May 5th.

Personally, I am growing tired of the camps of these two great boxers pointing at one another why the fight hasn't happened. And as a Filipino, I am inclined to believe that Mayweather is more to blame for dodging Pacquiao.

But I suppose this tweet signifies that Mayweather is finally serious in showing to the world that he is better than Pacquiao inside the ring. We all know that Manny is way ahead of him outside it.

Old movies portray challenges verbally made by protagonists and villain with an agreed date regardless whether its mano-mano, drawing guns or swordfight.

Perhaps Manny Pacquiao and his camp can announce their response via Facebook status?

Pacquiao vs Mosley Fight

For the coming Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight, obviously I'm rooting for Manny Pacquiao.

While I am among those who disagree with this fight, I can not fail to support a countryman that would certainly entertain our whole country once more.

I'm counting on another PacMan win over Mosley. But I hope he wins in a knock-out fashion to add more to his legend. That happening will certainly send a message to a certain pretty loud mouth.

We all know that Pacquiao is not into saying things against his opponents. But Mosley being too nice makes me feel he's just here for the payday and nothing else.

Honestly, I'm looking forward more to what was reported as the next Pacquiao fight - a third fight against arch-nemesis Juan Miguel Marquez. I feel that the animosity between them will pave the way to a genuine fight to the end.

Nonito Donaire Jr KO Montiel, Now WBC & WBO Bantamweight King

I really did not intend to watch the Donaire vs. Montiel fight because I did not want to sit thru tons of commercials from advertisers. But as my luck would have it, I was able to witness Nonito Jr. Donaire's spectacular knock-out of Fernando Montiel in the 2nd round of their bantamweight title fight.

When I went down to have a look, it was already in the second round, while I was waiting for my turn to use the bathroom. Montiel connected on a right to the head of Montiel when Donaire connected with a wicked left hook that floored Montiel to the canvass.

Perhaps Montiel's mind is fighting thru the pain that his body did what looked like involuntary spasm. He was able to beat the count of the referee. But when the fight was resumed, Montiel was obviously not in his best condition to continue. Donaire connected with another left until the referee mercifully ended the fight.

And we filipino's have another boxing world champion in Nonito Donaire Jr.. He know holds both the World Boxing Council (WBC) and (WBO) Bantamweight title belts.

This spectacular win of Donaire will definitely increase his stock and his boxing pay. What I really liked afterwards was how Donaire thanked the Filipino fans rooting for him in the arena.

Great win, Nonito! Keep it up.

Nonito Donaire Jr. vs. Fernando Montiel, Who will be left Standing?

Tomorrow will be the bantamweight clash between our own Nonito Donaire Jr. against Fernando Montiel of Mexico, about mid day here in the Philippines. I am among those praying for an action-packed bout and, of course, a win for Donaire.

Donaire is taller by 3 inches and has a longer reach by almost two inches over Montiel. But as Pacquiao proved against Margarito, speed trumps such physical advantages. Though sports bettors favor Donaire, Montiel is much more experienced and comfortable on this weight class and has knocked out more foes than Donaire, 33 - 17.

If previous press releases are to be believed, Donaire has improved a lot and a spectacular win over will move him closer to be the heir-apparent of Pacquiao.

And I hope that true to his words, Donaire will not just box around Montiel but give us a toe-to-toe fight. Legends are created by those boxers who give boxing fans a thrill of lifetime in the tradition of Morales-Barrera & Corrales-Castillo tiffs.

Pacquiao - Mayweather Mega Fight on November 13, 2010?

Pacquiao - Mayweather, the megafight every boxing fan is drooling to witness, may finally push through on November 13, 2010.


Bob Arum said that Manny Pacquiao will certainly fight in November and promised that he will do his best so that Pacquiao's opponent on the other corner will be Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The Pacquiao - Mayweather is touted to become the biggest fight in boxing and will also put to rest who is the better boxer in this generation.

Arum's return to US may be even called Pacquiao - Mayweather negotiations II. The megafight should have happened in March but negotiations bogged down due to the unresolved issue of drug testing.

Congressman Pacquiao sounded very traditional-politician when he said that he will give in to the voice of the people. And the people wants to see the best boxers slug it out on the ring and not take other opponents that they will just dominate.

As a Filipino, I commend Manny for not giving in to the whims of Floyd Mayweather then. But now, I believe that if Manny Pacquiao surrenders his pride a little and beat the crap out of Mayweather, it is definitely worth it.

I am marking my calendar for the Pacquiao - Mayweather megafight. I am praying for a Pacquiao victory.

Edwin Valero commits suicide in Jail

Just hours after I blogged about Edwin Valero getting arrested, my housemate learned via Twitter and informed me that he committed suicide in jail.

That is shocking news!

Venezuelan police reported that Valero utilized his own clothes, and hanged himself on the bar inside his cell.

What a waste of talent. A 27 - 0 boxing record, All KO's. Unfortunately, he was not strong enough to take the blows of life and knocked himself out.

Edwin Valero Arrested, Suspect on Wife's Death

Espn.com reported that Edwin Valero was taken into custody by the Venezuelan police as a suspect for the murder of his wife, Jennifer Viera.Valero's wife was found dead in a hotel in Valencia after being stabbed three times.

Valero has had history of violence allegations. It was even alleged that he informed security of killing his wife before leaving their hotel room.

Valero, nicknamed Dinamita, is a knock-out artist who used to hold the world record for most first-round knockouts at 18. He was banned from fighting in the US because of brain injury sustained in motorcycle crash until being allowed to do so in Texas in 2008.

Coach Freddie Roach considered Edwin Valero as one of the potential opponents for Manny Pacquiao's next fight.

A Pacman - Dinamita exchanging blows inside the ring sounds an exciting boxing proposition , if only Valero prevails on his challenges outside of it.
