Talk 'N Text Takes Game 2 and a 2-0 Series Lead in 2011 PBA Philippine Cup Finals

The Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters repulsed the San Miguel Beermen anew to win Game 2, 110 - 102 and take a commanding 2 - 0 series lead in the 2011 PBA Philippine Cup Finals.

The Texters once again use a strong fourth quarter to thwart the Beermen's attempt to even the series.

Led by grizzled veterans Olsen Racela, Danny Ildefonso and Danny Seigle, the Beermen fought hard to keep the game close in the third canto, the quarter ending with Texters only up by four, 73 - 69.

But after that hard-fought third quarter, the Texters built some distance against the Beermen in the fourth, using their speed and quickness.

Down by 11 with just a little 3 minutes left, the Beermen made a last ditch effort, clawing back to trim the deficit to 3. But in the succeeding action sequence, Ali Peek scored in a putback and blocked a Jay Washington shot at the other end to give TNT enough room for the win.

It was nice seeing familiar faces of the old SMB glory days. I think that SMB should try to grind out the game with their veterans to frustrate the young Texters in Game 3. Otherwise the championship will be for TNT.
