JRU, Coach Meneses notch First Win in NCAA Season 86

The Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers proved steadier in overtime as they beat the Letran University Knights 67 - 62, to notch theirs and Coach Vergel Meneses' first win in the Men's Senior Basketball of NCAA Season 86.
I was glad to catch the latter part of the game to see one of my favorite players and now Coach Vergel Meneses. I'm glad they won but I felt that they should have won the game in regular time.
JRU was up by 5, they got the offensive rebound but the player, I think it was Mark Lopez forced a shot inside and was called for traveling. Had he passed outside, they could have used more clock and the Knights would surely fouled.
Instead, Letran was able to get possession and Coach Louie Alas drew out a play for player and trusting the player that he knows what to do once he got the ball. I believe that confidence help for the player to make a three point play, cutting the lead into two.
On the other end, Coach Meneses just drew out an inbounds play, instructed his players to just hold on to the possession and expect to be fouled.
In the ensuing play, Letran got the ball, missing a trey for the win but got the offensive rebound to tie the score and off we go to overtime.
In overtime, Letran got lousy with the ball especially in securing defensive rebounds and committed a lot of foul. JRU scored on free throws and played good defense to prevail in the end.
JRU and Coach Meneses are 1 - 1. I think JRU plays good team defense and have solid players in Hayes and Etame. Their backcourts needs to play solid and consistently for the Bombers to be contenders. But the NCAA is a long season, and they would have ample time to figure each other and things out.
