Graeme McDowell, 2010 US Open Golf Champion

>> Monday, June 21, 2010

Graeme McDowell proved steadier than overnight leader Dustin Johnson, grittier than the illustrious field breathing down his lead and emerged as 2010 US Open Golf Championships winner at the Pebble Beach Golf Course, California.

McDowell comes from Northern Ireland. He is a prominent campaigner in the European Tour and a member of Europe's Ryder Cup team. I think I saw him first on the 2008 Ryder Cup. He is the first European winner of the Open after a 40 long years.

Johnson lost his lead in the early holes of the final round and eventually his bid for the championship. First-timer Gregory Havret, 2010 Masters Champion Phil Mickelson, two-time US Open winner Ernie Els and 14-time major winner Tiger Woods are the famous pursuers of McDowell but also fell short.

The 2010 US Open Championship is very first major win for Graeme McDowell. The US Open is the national golf championship of the USA and 2nd major golf championship annually.
