My Yonex Badminton Bag

For the past month, I have enjoyed the increase in regularity of playing badminton with my colleagues at work. Since then, I have been thinking of adding to my badminton gear.

This desire was further bolstered when my playing partners bought badminton gears for themselves such as new badminton racquets, badminton shoes and badminton bags.

Today, I finally purchased something new for my badminton playing hobby - a yonex badminton bag.

Last week, I was at Toby's in Megamall and inquired about the same badminton bag that one of my playing partners purchased recently. I really liked to get the same because I feel that the bag can be used not only for badminton but as a regular backpack too. However, the said model/design was already sold out. Instead, I was offered a Victor badminton bag.

The Victor Badminton Bag was the backpack type also and colored red. It has compartments for badminton racquets and shoes. I was also offered a 25% discount. But since my budget was not enough, I said to the sales guy that I needed more time to decide.

This day, I and my girlfriend passed by the Yonex store in Megamall. My eye was caught by the badminton bag on display. But I diligently checked other designs. In the end, I chose this badminton bag because I feel that it offers all the things I stated above.

I am pretty much excited to use my new Yonex badminton bag this Friday for another badminton playing day.

Badminton Sunday Turned Bad

Badminton is the only sport I enjoy playing nowadays. I'm really excited every time a playing schedule is set. Imagine my disappointment when a supposed to be Badminton Sunday just turned out to Bad.



I have these buddies who came from the same high school as mine. A few days ago, we have agreed to play on Sunday (which is yesterday) starting from 9 am onwards.

Though I arrived late, surprisingly, it was I who arrived first around 9:30 am. So, I waited. Around 10 am, I begun making calls to know the where abouts of those who I am supposed to be playing with.

I was totally disappointed to learn that one of the guys backed out through one of the other guys without informing the rest. A few minutes passed, thankfully, another player arrived.

However, we do not have the guts to play against other players already in the courts as we are both beginners. So, we just went home.

I was pissed off. And that was an understatement.

My Mini Badminton Tourney is On its Way

The Badminton tournament I wrote about in my previous post started last Saturday. Although I lost a match, I've felt that I won in terms of organizing it. Yehey!

It was hard to schedule without the benefit of drawing lots to determine matches and sequence of games. Most, if not all, would want to play on the day they are convenient.

So, to cut to the chase, I volunteered myself and my female partner Rose, to go up against another mixed doubles team for the very first game. While it saddens me that we bowed out (21-11, 24-26, 11-21) early in the competition, I was relieved that the tournament has finally begun.

For the men's doubles, I am glad that my playing partner was skilled. We trounced our first opponent in straight sets, 21 - 11, 21 -11.

I hope that every match will turn out fine and that we can proclaim a champion in both division before April 10.

The Hard Task of Organizing a Badminton Tournament, Even just a Small One

When our Safety Department brought up the idea of organizing sportsfest which includes Badminton, I was so ecstatic. I was hopeful that the planned sportsfest will catch the attention of badminton afficionados currently working with us in construction of a corporate center. And eventually developed into a small group of people whom I can join and play regularly.

I got way more than I wish for. t Perhaps our safety officer noticed my excitement, and basic playing skills that he asked my help in organizing the tournament.

The first obstacle that I faced was the low turn up of players. Most workers in a construction site prefers Basketball. Through some prodding, we came up with 4 teams for Men's Doubles and 10 pairs for Mixed Double.

Thankfully, I came across a site that provides free printable bracketing. You may check it here.

With the aid of this free bracketing, I came up with a double elimination tournament for the Men's Doubles and Single elimination tournament for the Mixed Doubles.

As most are hesitant to play the first game, I volunteered to be in Game 1. Hopefully, I will enjoy tomorrow's game. More than that, I wish that my tournament will be as smooth as possible.

Playing Badminton Again... So Good!

Yes, we are fans. But we do like to enjoy playing the sport we love as well, right?

I was very glad I was able to play badminton again last Saturday. And I am excited at the idea that it will be a regular thing. I hope my other workmates would also like to play. Wish me luck! ;)

I can not contain my excitement some days back when our Safety Department was able to secure a reservation to a private gymnasium, inviting us to be active and play sports.

Admittedly, most of the guys are excited to play basketball. Lucky for me, there were also badminton courts available. The only problem then was finding playing partners.

Last Saturday, I was able to play doubles after a very, very long time. I am not that competitive but I know the mechanics of the game. More importantly, I enjoy playing even with first time players like most of my workmates.

My right arm is a little sore even with two days rest. But I can not complain. I am excited at the thought that I may be able to play tomorrow.

Double Fun Playing Badminton with Tintin et al @ Double Play Badminton Courts

For a change, I am not a just a sports spectator or just blogging about some sport. It was a welcome change to actually play a sport - Badminton - over the weekend.

I was able to play badminton last Sunday with GF Tintin and 4 of her relatives at the Double Play Badminton courts in Pasig.

It was double fun for me because I get to spend time with her (plus her relatives) over an activity that I really enjoy doing.

Playing the sport - badminton - is much more fun than just plain watching or blogging about it. Getting fit and healthy is one of the benefits of Badminton. Not to mention the camarederie you can develop with the people you play with.

Among the group, I was the one more familiar with Badminton. Among the things I tried to show them was the badminton serves that I know of. Plus some rules in serving that I know of.

I'm relatively a beginner with no formal training. I wish I could've taught them some badminton tricks.

The people playing beside our court looks more seasoned, I would say that their booming smashes and pretty footwork make them at least intermediate level badminton players. However, I couldn't catch any badminton tricks watching them.

We played at Double Play badminton courts in Pasig. Only Php 75.00 per head for unlimited play with unlimited refill of cold distilled drinking water. But you have to be at least four in a group to be able to avail that.

The venue of the courts were just a short stroll away from GF Tintin's house. I think that would be playing Badminton regularly there if her relatives would start liking the game and playing it more.
