San Sebastian Captures 2011 PCCL Title

Congratulations to the San Sebastian College - Recoletos Stags for capturing the 2011 Philippine Collegiate Champions League Championship, making history by becoming the first school from the NCAA league to do so.

The Stags outlasted the mighty Ateneo de Manila University to take the PCCL title, a more-than-enough consolation after failing to win the NCAA Basketball title over bitter archrival San Beda.

I think the Stags benefited from the twice-to-beat advantage they gained by beating Ateneo and San Beda in the round-robin semifinals. And probably, the Blue Eagles have less fire nowadays after dominating the UAAP for 4th straight years and the PCCL in the last two.

San Sebastian definitely showed they want the perpetual PCCL trophy more than Ateneo in the finals series.
