Allan Caidic's Shooting still Sublime at the 2010 NBA Asia Challenge

>> Tuesday, September 7, 2010

It was a blast from the glorious PBA past for me to be able to watch the replay of the 2010 NBA Asia Challenge. The 2010 NBA Asia Challenge is headlined by former NBA stars Chris Webber, Gary Payton, Glen Rice and Mitch Richmond. But it was local hoops legend that I particularly wanted to see.

Allan "the Triggerman" Caidic, my favorite player especially when he became a Ginebra player in the latter part of his career, stole the thunder from NBA stars, shooting his way once more to the hearts of Filipino basketball fans.

It was nostalgic for me to see my childhood hoop heroes once again playing on the hardwood.
Caidic with his trademark release hitting the bottom of the net time and time again to the delight of the fans and more of the former NBA stars.

Vergel Meneses is still a sight to behold as he seemed to glide through in the air.

Benjie Paras connecting with the patented set shots and injecting humor in the game.

Alvin Patrimonio posting up and hitting his shots.

Ronnie Magsanoc every bit a point guard, looking first to pass to his teammates. Although, I miss him hitting three-points, the way he used to break my heart and other Ginebra fans.

Atoy Co, nearing 60, still loved by PBA fans, egging him on until he made his first basket of the exhibition game.

In the end, it is not important that Caidic's Red Team won, that he finished with 54 points and made 14 three-pointers. The 2010 NBA Asia Challenge was an enjoyable basketball game. I'm sure every not-so-young Filipino hoop fan felt the same way as I did. And if it is not too much asking, maybe Solar Sports can re-show classic PBA games featuring my idols.
